Climbing vines which bear lots of plump green pods. Sweet and tender classic shelling pea. Heirloom from the UK, currently quite rare. It was given the Award of Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society in 1904, which was presumably around the year it was introduced. A small sample of this seed was shared with me in 2009, from the USDA seed bank. We've been maintaining it ever since.
