(New) Hollow Crown Parsnip - This parsnip has been a garden standard since the early 1800’s. The long tapered roots average about 12”. Parsnips are staple in our winter diet, they’re such a good winter storage crop. Part of the beauty of parsnips is that they store in either a root cellar or simply in the ground... I dig some up in late-autumn but as long as the soil isn’t frozen solid you can harvest them from nature’s cold storage!

(New) Harris Model Parsnip - A must for winter storage, this parsnip is from an excellent strain of the antique Harris Model variety. Large tapered roots sweeten with the cold and are at their sweetest harvested just after snow melt the following spring.

Marion Rutubaga (Brassica napus) - A great winter storage Rutabaga. Rutabagas are great mashed like potatoes, roasted or used in soups. I think rutabagas are perhaps one of the most dependable food sources that you can grow, they’re both high yielding and seldom damaged by insects. 350 seeds (1 gram)

(New) Laurentian Rutabaga - Purple crown and yellow base, large and sweet, great keepers.

Shosaku Gobo – A cultivated strain of Japanese Burdock (Arctium lappa) grown for it's long, slender edible root. Extremely easy to grow, just direct sow in May and stand back! The root  grows up to one metre in length in loose soil (but usually less) and is ready to be dug in the fall or the following spring. They're a popular root crop in Japan where they've been cultivated to lose the bitter taste of the wild burdock. Great stir-fried, baked with other root crops, in soups, raw....use your imagination! A biennial which grows to 7 feet in it's second year when it flowers. 100 seeds
