Lettuce:

Approx. 400 seeds per package (0.5 grams)

(New) Flashy Trout Back - Spectacular red and green speckled leaves. A good loose-leaf variety. The flat, speckly leaves really add a splash of colour to salads.

Italian Red Parella - In an unscientific taste test last summer we agreed this was our tastiest lettuce! A sweet crispy butterhead with beautiful red-blushed leaves.

Craqurelle du Midi - A compact, dark green, slightly wavy-leaved romaine. Crispy and sweet, it stands up to summer heat well. An old French heirloom from the 19th century.

Lau's Pointed Leaf - Pointed green leaves radiate from the centre of the plant like a star. A Malaysian variety.

Strella Green - A very robust loose-leaf lettuce. The long green leaves are held upright off the soil and withstand summer heat well without getting bitter.

Cracoviensis - A productive, early maturing loose-leaf with long olive leaves blushed with bronze. Somewhat early to bolt but also very early to mature. An old French heirloom dating back to the 19th century, mentioned in the Volmorin seed catalogue in 1885.

Green Oakleaf - A beautiful, flavourful, light green oak-shaped lettuce.  Stays sweet longer into the summer than most varieties. Produces low-growing open rosettes of leaves perfect for cut and come again harvests.

Lettuce Mix - A mix of all our most popular lettuces!

Blushed Butter Oak
- One of my favourite lettuces, productive and stays sweet and crisp into summer longer than most. An oakleaf which forms loose heads of broad, red blushed green leaves.

Bunyard's Matchless - An open headed bronze-green romaine. Definitely one of the best for cut and come again harvesting. An old English heirloom.

Other Greens:

(New) Frilly Kale (B. oleracea) - A very unique “frilly” sport of the popular Red Russian. The reddish-green leaves are very finely cut, almost like parsley! A very different look than the common curly kale. Very tender and tasty! It’s even more winter hardy than most kales, lasting long into the cold winter. A real favourite at the farm.  500 seeds (2 grams)

(New) White Russian Kale (B. oleracea) - A great stand-by for four season kale. White Russian produces loads of flat, broad, green leaves; and with a little care can keep on producing almost all year. I especially love kale in the fall and winter, when the cold weather makes the leaves sweeter (kale produces sugar as an anti-freezing measure) and the kale is often one of the few green plants still standing strong in the garden. Try making massaged kale... just tear up some leaves and “massage” them (almost as if you were kneading the kale) in a large bowl with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It makes an amazing tender salad! 500 seeds (2 grams)

(New) Beedy’s Camden Kale (B. oleracea) - A hardy, flavorful kale hailing from mid-coast Maine, with dark green ruffled leaves. A favourite! Limited supply - 150 seeds (0.5 grams)

(New) Mizuna (B. rapa) - Here’s an under-utilized yet totally amazing green! Mizuna has tender, green, slightly frilly leaves. They’re quite mild and make great salads, especially in the colder months which is when Mizuna really shines. Perfect for winter cold-frames, and it performs well in summer too. 500 seeds (2 grams)

(New) Broccoli Raab (B. rapa) - Also known as Rapini, this distant relative of broccoli (it’s actually more closely related to turnips) forms small, deep-green heads loaded with nutrients and flavour! Both the heads and young leaves are eaten, I like them when lightly steamed or in stir-fries. 250 seeds (1 gram)

(New) Calabrese Broccoli (B. oleracea) - The classic Italian heirloom broccoli. Very flavourful dark green heads grow to around the size of a small fist, and when cut quickly re-sprout with equally tender side shoots. Harvests can continue well into Autumn if the side shoots are kept cut to encourage re-growth. 200+ seeds (1 gram)

(New) Purple Orach - An outstanding and uncommon leafy green. Orach has thick, tender, savoyed leaves similar to spinach, but unlike spinach it thrives in the heat. With deep purple leaves the plants are extremely ornamental, especially if left to flower when they can reach 5 feet tall.

Mesclun Mix - A mix of lettuce, spinach, mustard, arugula, beet greens and more... perfect for flavourful salads and baby greens.

Magma Mustard (B. juncea) - A very hardy and easy to grow green, great for adding some kick to salads. The beautiful red blushed ruffly green leaves are mildly hot, generally being more pungent and spicy in warm weather while being sweeter in the cool months. 800 seeds (2 grams)

Bloomsdale Longstanding Spinach - This open-pollinated spinach is an old favourite dating back over a hundred years. The original Bloomsdale was introduced around 1880 and was improved in 1925 (hence the addition of "Longstanding”). Tender, savoyed leaves are held nicely upright off the soil. Slower to bolt than other varieties.

Chinese Salad Mallow - A very unique plant, the round leaves are very tender and sweet and an excellent addition to salads when young. The plant gets about four feet tall and has smallwhite flowers by late-summer, ornamental and edible! Several hundred seeds (1 gram)

Shungiku - An edible-leaved chrysanthemum, also known as garland chrysanthemum. The tender leaves are added to salads and make a good addition to soup. Shungiku enjoys cool weather for producing greens, it will produce beautiful yellow and white blooms in the hot weather of summer. Several hundred seeds (0.5 grams)

Arugula (Eruca sativa) - A Mediterranean native, arugula's zesty leaves are great for adding flavour to salads. Fast growing, super-hardy plants can be used for winter growing under cover. 800 seeds (1 gram)
