A traditional melon for preserves and marmalades. At one point they were popular in the Maritimes, but are now difficult to come by. Keeps after harvest extremely well for a melon.
I like to say that Citron is to watermelon what zucchini is to squash; not sweet and juicy but instead green and firm, with that distinctive melon essence. Think green watermelon rind, but all the way through. It gets the name Citron not for its taste, which isn't citrus-like, but because in more balmy climates it often grows wild in citrus groves. 20 seeds
